Before
the Indian groups that
inhabited this land during the Spanish arrival, there were some clans over this land,
their most eloquent manifestation is the paintings over the rocks, found in the
mountain regions of the peninsula, specially Sierra San Francisco and Sierra de
Guadalupe. This art
shaped inside their mountain shelters is an artistic phenomenon which is part of the 5 most
important groups of ancient
art in the world.
Before the
Spanish conquering arrival to Baja California the population that inhabited this place were of
40,000 persons, they were divided in three groups: Guaycuras, Cochimies and Pericues, these
last ones inhabited the Cabo region, they came from the north after their ancestors were
conquered.
